Affirmations are one of the most powerful tools that can be used to build self-confidence and develop personality. They are simple, easy to learn, and effective. What we say to ourselves every day becomes true for us.
A lot of people have tried affirmations and have become disillusioned with them. For lack of patience or lack of visible and measurable results. We also get discouraged with meditation or developing good habits, because it also takes time. But just because affirmations don't work in a particular case doesn't mean that they are generally ineffective.
Let's find out what mistakes people make when trying to use affirmations.

Lack of Regularity
This is the first and foremost factor why affirmations might not work. Their very essence is to repeat them over and over until you get bored. And when you get bored, continue until you like it!
"Do you repeat affirmations often enough? Or from time to time?" Someone asked. Well, actually, what you do from time to time is not that important. What's much more important is what you do all the time. If you want affirmations to work, you need to apply them every day. It should become a habit. After a few weeks, you will automatically repeat phrases to yourself that increase self-confidence and cheer you up.
The best times for affirmations are in the morning and before bed. When we do this in the morning, it inspires us and energizes us. When we repeat them at night, there is a high probability of making our beliefs subconscious.
Repetition is the mother of learning, the mother of any skill. Want to learn any skill that interests you? Repeat the same actions hundreds and thousands of times, bring them to perfection and everything will work out. It is the same with affirmations! When they become part of your life, the words you say will come to life. They will become a reality.
Shallow Approach
Are you repeating affirmations for the sake of repeating them? Or are you pursuing a main and serious goal? If your intentions are not serious enough, you will never feel inspired and energized.
Affirmations can be called mere chatter with oneself. The only difference is that it is deliberate chatter. Professional athletes use this approach in competition and training.
You must take this seriously. Affirmations may not work if, deep down, you plant the thought of: "This is nonsense. Who said this even works? But since everyone does it, I'll give it a shot." All your statements are what you want out of life. If you are not serious, how can you expect that everything will work out?
Make a commitment to yourself, trust that it will work, that it already works. How you feel about affirmations reflects how you feel about what you want to achieve.
Little Energy Input
Never forget that some of the affirmations provide energy, which you then use to create new affirmations and so on.
Words won't mean anything if you don't believe in them. What matters is the emotion, the meaning, the thrill, and the energy that you associate with your statements. If you say affirmations in a boring and sleepy way, guess what? They will never work.
As we mentioned above, you also need to be serious about your intentions and not act for the sake of a tick. It is imperative that while doing this you experience exciting emotions or at least one particular emotion, but distinct. So that they can give it a clear definition without hesitation. This emotion will improve your state and give you energy.
If the affirmation is about success, feel the positive energy within. Feel like you are already successful. You must act as if you have already achieved success.
Remember, "To be successful you have to behave like a successful person."
Reluctance to Write Them Down
Writing affirmations is a great technique. The famous cartoonist Scott Adams claims to have had written down his statements 15 times a day. He repeats "I, Scott Adams, will become a famous cartoonist" on paper 15 times a day.
It will work, one way or another.
So is it better to say the affirmations out loud or write them down? Try both. We all agree that a few minutes a day is a small price to pay for feeling confident and pushing the necessary thoughts into the subconscious.
Wake up, brush your teeth, pour yourself some coffee or tea, and write down the affirmations while your mind is still waking up.
Lack of Faith
They say that affirmations work even if you don't believe in them. That may be true, but it takes much more time. And, as we know, time is valuable, we don't have a lot of it.
How can you achieve your dreams if you don't believe in them? Affirmations are part of these dreams, it's what will help you achieve them. Successful people are not all geniuses, they just know how to inspire themselves to reach whatever they want. That is why they are able to reveal their inner potential to achieve outstanding results in life.
If you don't believe in your dreams and your strength, no one will. But you know that everything will work out. And that even if you fail, it will only be an unfortunate misunderstanding - you will draw conclusions and move on. Yes, you need to know a lot, read books and develop your skills, but even if you had all the knowledge necessary, without faith, you're not gonna get there!
In the end, always picture yourself at the finish line, and feel how much it's worth it!
